Braga in play off round in august would be fun

Conference league qualification would represent a tiny thread of success in spite of our self destructive non transfer policy. Hopefully some cunt will learn some lessons for next time.

We only ridiculed it last year because Spurs were in it.

The Roma & Feyenoord fans will be delighted to make a Euro final and ask the Leicester fans how they feel this morning to miss out. Winning leads to Europa Cup qualification as well of course.

Huge game against Norwich which we can't afford to lose or this season could still go horribly wrong. A win for us and Brighton beating Man U and Europa next season is still a possibility.

We won't be overtaking Man Utd. No point in looking up at the table.

Thank god Wolves have gone off the boil as much as we have. That should hopefully save our season.

All over this.

Hopefully no English teams will drop down from the EL to join after the group stages.

Final is an easier journey to St. Etienne and i like the logo being green as opposed to orange.

We're winning it. FACT!!

Re: The Europa Conference League 2022/23
If we DON'T win another point this season:

- Wolves have to take 4 points from their remaining games. or 3 points & overturn a 6 goal difference.

AND/OR

- Brighton have to take 9 points from their remaining games, or 8 and overturn a 15 goal difference

AND/OR

- Newcastle have to take (all) 9 points from their remaining games AND overturn a 23 goal difference

AND/OR

- Leicester have to take 11 points from their remaining games, or 10 points and overturn a 13 goal difference.

AND/OR

- Crystal Palace have to take 12 points from their remaining games, or 11 points and overturn a 4 goal difference (squeaky bum on that one).

AND/OR

- Aston Villa have to tale 13 points from their remaining games, or 12 points and overcome a 9 goal difference

Brentford & below can't catch us.

3 points against Norwich won't ensure European football next season but it will make the chasing pack's work that bit more difficult. 4 points from our remaining games should do it.

I'd keep an eye on Leicester, if I were you.

Re: The Europa Conference League 2022/23
When Spurs were in it was a glorified sub Inter Toto Cup JOKE of a competition.

Now .... it had a last 4 of Roma, Feyenoord, Marseille & Leicester so basically just another Europa League
Would love to be in the CL or EL but if this is on offer then its a definite yes.

Re: The Europa Conference League 2022/23
Calling it no better than the intertoto cup was guaranteed to wind Tottenham fans up.....especially on rare occasions we are in a 'better cup' like the Europa League.....now many will enjoy another European tour if it happens.

11mde has France been confirmed as host?
I read it was to be decided but that looks a much better stadium than the others being mentioned!

Odds on west ham and Tottenham final

Re: The Europa Conference League 2022/23
Fuck me, a thread about it being a failed season and another with people turning their noses up of us playing european football next season if given the choice.

I was as pissed off as anyone last night but having slept on it there is no way this season can be deemed a failure. Yes, it COULD have been so much more, and not strengthening the squad in Jan was stupid. However, nearly all of us would have taken what we've acheived if offered it at the start of the season.

As for the conference league. Cleary its not what we would have preferred but it gives us the opportunity of winning another trophy (I would argue that if we were to win it next season we would feel like it's a major one), it gives us more european football experience, plus the chance of some top away days for the fans.

I'm hoping some of you just need more time to get over last night's disapointment and come round to your senses.

Re: The Europa Conference League 2022/23
Yes.

One good season in Europe doesn't suddenly make us too good for the Europa Conference.

It will give us experience in handling both a League and European campaign.

We have done it reasonably well with the squad we have got but Iwould argue in the Conference there will be less pressure and we can experiment a little more with squad rotation.

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. It is about our level.

The play off draw is on the 1st August.

Builds our experience of European competition so I’m in.

But don’t assume we will qualify. We need to beat Norwich at least to have a good chance and our form is in decline.

Yes, confirmed at St.Etienne, June 7 2023 (41,000 capcity). The Scum, Le Arse or Man Utd won't finish below 2nd in their EL group.

Flight to Lyon, traiin to St Etienne. Or Eurostar with a couple of changes. We're going to be the first English team to win the fucker (if we finish 7th of course).

Re: The Europa Conference League 2022/23
In it to win it.

We're not going to win the league anytime soon, so aiming to get into Europe as many seasons as possible has got to be it for me.

I remember years back when a European game, any European game really used to be quite an event for clubs before UEFA changed all the formats and for any club normally outside the big 2 or 3 they were even bigger occasions.

UEFA might have made a mess with all the formats but still think European games are a big thing and proud of the record we have in how far we progress in it, when we do qualify.

Stubbo 7:20 Fri May 6
Re: The Europa Conference League 2022/23
In 100%. It might be the minor comp, but the reality is if we'd just been facing off against Roma then that would have been a pretty big deal, and in the latter stages you get some good sides.

On top of which, it will help attract players who want European football. It's a better offering than no euro football.
